G5B

Operating from our "home location" - IO92WS The Five Bells Group - G5B  fielded a slightly smaller station than they had done in previous years.  This time the system comprised of 2 antenna arrays - the first being a single 6 element homebrew antenna designed and built by Howard G0VTL and the second array was a pair of stacked M2 antennas.  Both systems were about 65ft over ground and 0feet above sea level.

We had Es during the contest, but failed to realise the contact numbers and distance that stations to the West and South West experienced and benefited from.

Congratulation go to the Bristol Group GJ6YB/p who managed such a magnificant score leaving the remainder of entrants wondering if they were taking part in the same event.

The Five Bells QSOs totalled 386 with our ODX [best distance] being K3WC in Locator Square FN10 @ 5752km.  Our Stateside Es opening occurred just before 23:00 UTC and failed to last as long as many other entrants.

Thanks to all stations that contacted The Five Bells Group - G5B and added to our contest score. Much of the received audio from the contest was recorded and later we may post some audio files of some of the stations we worked during the RSGB 6M Trophy Contest on this page.
